We love chickens!! It's a treat to be in the garden pottering away whilst listening to all their little noises; my favourite is when one discovers a delectable stash of grubs and clucks it up in excitement. Well managed, they are the ultimate nutrient cyclers, munching their way through kitchen scraps, garden pests and weed seeds and producing nutrient dense eggs and fertiliser!

At Earth & Wood we build quality chook houses and runs designed to provide a good life for their inhabitants and merge seamlessly with other elements of an edible garden.

Our chook houses are built from untreated Cyprus macrocarpa timber using stainless steel hinges and latches. They provide a cosy corner for the chooks to roost, lay and access their broader runs from.

Removable timber laying box for ease of replacing bedding and cleaning house
Elevated house with mesh floor, providing ventilation & a self cleaning floor
Chook foot friendly natural branch perches
Egg collection door that folds down to create the perfect egg basket resting spot
Separate access for the chooks to freely roam in and out as they please
Pitched roof with built in ventilation to prevent overheating

LARGE:

- houses a maximum of 8 chooks

Our Chicken Runs can be built in all shapes and sizes, with access gates as required.

Whether it's a permanent run within an orchard allowing them to clean up fallen fruit and help with pest control or temporarily inviting them into the veggie patch for an in situ weed and feed...

...With appropriate infrastructure and thoughtful design chooks integrate seamlessly into an edible garden!
