Hey there!
My passion for this sort of work has developed from a number of places. These include studying ethics at UTAS, working on farms and homesteads while traveling and pottering around in my own backyard.
I recently completed a three month practicum Permaculture Design Course in New Zealand which helped consolidate my knowledge and skills.
I have a few years experience in nature guiding, which led me to appreciate some of the gardening lessons of mother nature.
Collaborating with the designing genius of Good Life Permaculture and transforming spaces into thriving productive gardens is totally fulfilling and one of my favourite ways to spend time.
I love working with these two fine fellows and looking around at all our hard work while eating a slice of Danny's favourite cake!

My interest in permaculture was sparked years ago, and along with continuous self study since, has led me to participate in a Permaculture Design Course. This gave me a much greater understanding of the principles and concepts within permaculture, and a far broader basis of knowledge, which I am constantly building upon. My background in nature guiding has given me a passion for learning and understanding ecology. It allowed me to come to the realisation of our destructive and unnatural monoculture farming methods, and realise the importance for change. Permaculture is a step closer to that change.

Hi, I’m Danny. I first stumbled across Permaculture whilst studying horticulture in QLD in 2008. Shortly after completing I moved to Tassie, met Hannah Maloney (www.goodlifepermaculture.com.au), and completed an inspiring Permaculture Design Course (PDC) in 2009 with her and the Southern Cross Permaculture Institute. I left the course with a burning desire to gather the skills and knowledge required to feed and shelter myself and those near. I spent the next couple of years experimenting at home and working with the delightful team at FIMBY (www.Fimby.com) helping folks design, implement and manage edible gardens. I then went on to focus on the shelter part of my post PDC desires. I completed a Carpentry apprenticeship in 2014, with a focus on sustainable building, and a cert 4 in Building and Construction in 2015. Earth and Wood was born from my desire to merge these passions of building using ethically sourced materials and supporting folks to get in and grow! When I’m not immersed in growing and building I enjoy eating cake and trying to balance on things; sometimes I even combine the two!
